Ever walked into an old castle and felt strangely at home? Or preferred the sea to any city without knowing why? This past life test turns that feeling into a result. Twelve questions about your taste in homes, drinks, pets, fighting styles and Sunday mornings reveal which of eight historical lives fits you best.

The eight possible results are a Pharaoh of Egypt, a Samurai, a Viking Warrior, a Pirate Captain, a Village Healer, an Explorer, a Renaissance Artist and a Medieval Knight. Each comes with its own illustration and a short story about how that old life still shows in the way you act today.

It is free, finishes in two minutes and stores nothing. People take it for fun, for a themed party, or because a friend got Pirate Captain and they refuse to believe they are the Healer.

What is a past life test?

It is a personality quiz dressed as reincarnation. Nobody can know who you were centuries ago, but your instincts today say a lot about the kind of life that suits you: the leader, the loner, the adventurer, the carer. The test maps your answers onto eight archetypes from different eras and continents.

It is made for anyone who likes history, fantasy, or simply a good excuse to argue about who in the group would have survived the Middle Ages.

How does the past life test decide who you were?

Every question offers four options and each option quietly belongs to one or two of the eight lives. A palace with gold on every wall points to the Pharaoh; a longhouse by a grey fjord points to the Viking. The life that collects the most votes across the twelve questions is your result.

Ties are broken by your earlier answers, so there is always one clear winner. Change two answers and you may wake up as someone else entirely.

What do the past life questions look like?

They are all about preferences, never about history knowledge. Some of the choices you will face:

  • Your dream home: a palace, a quiet house with a sword on the wall, a longhouse or a ship
  • The treasure you would pick: a golden mask, a book of remedies, a battle axe or an unfinished painting
  • Your perfect Sunday, from a long sail to a long sketch
  • What people will remember about you after you leave the room
  • Your relationship with rules: write them, follow them, bend them or sail away from them

Which past life is the rarest result?

The Village Healer and the Renaissance Artist show up least, because their answers favour calm and craft over action, and most people choose the exciting option when a quiz offers one. Pirate Captain and Explorer are the crowd favourites. If you get the Healer, your friends needed you more than you knew.

Why do people play the past life test together?

Because the results sort a friend group into a cast of characters within minutes. The pirate, the knight, the pharaoh who insists on being in charge of the barbecue: it writes itself. Fantasy fans use it to pick characters for a game night, couples check whether their lives would have crossed, and plenty of people take it after a trip to Egypt or a Viking museum and feel oddly seen. For the modern version of the same question, the personality test tells you who you are in this life instead.

Can a quiz really tell me who I was in a past life?

No, and it does not pretend to. The test reads your current preferences and matches them to a historical archetype that shares them. Whether you believe in past lives or not, the result tends to describe your present personality surprisingly well, which is why people enjoy it.

How many past life results are there?

Eight: Pharaoh of Egypt, Samurai, Viking Warrior, Pirate Captain, Village Healer, Explorer, Renaissance Artist and Medieval Knight. Each has its own image and a short description of how that life still colours your habits, strengths and the one thing you keep struggling with.

Why did I get the Samurai?

Your answers leaned towards discipline, loyalty and quiet focus: a tidy home, a code you live by, finishing what you start. The Samurai result is the test's way of saying you are the dependable one. The text also warns about being too hard on yourself.

Does the past life test use real history?

The eight lives are real historical roles, and the descriptions borrow true details about how pharaohs, samurai, Vikings and Renaissance painters lived. The matching itself is playful, not scholarly. Think of it as a costume that fits, not a document from the archives.

Can I get a different result if I retake it?

Yes, especially if you were torn between options the first time. Most people land on the same life or a close neighbour, such as Knight and Samurai, on a second attempt. A completely different result usually means a mood change, which is fine for a quiz about several lifetimes.

Is the past life test suitable for kids?

Yes. The questions are about homes, pets, drinks and weekends, and the results are heroic rather than dark. Children often love picking the pirate ship, and the descriptions avoid anything gory, even for the Viking Warrior.
